About The Role

Indigo is recruiting for an enthusiastic 1st Line NOC engineer to join their global network monitoring team. The role involves reactive and proactive action on alarms as wells as performance analysis in a 365x24x7 operation.  Flexibility to work shifts is required.  This position will be an overnight position, working 4X10 shift from 10 PM to 6 AM either Sun-Wed, or Wed-Sat:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network issues, identifying and resolving incidents in a timely and efficient manner 
  • Ensure effective incident response and resolution, minimizing service disruptions and impact to customers
  • Proficient in ITIL incident management processes, including incident detection, reporting, and resolution
  • Participate in change management processes to ensure that changes to the network and services are properly planned, tested, and implemented
  • Collaborate with teams to manage service requests, ensuring timely and effective fulfilment of customer requests
  • Monitor and respond to events that may impact network and service availability, taking proactive measures to prevent service disruptions 
  • Proactively analyze data from Network Monitoring Tools and determine best course of action to help prevent faults from happening
  • Create or update internal documentation regarding actions taken to sort specific case scenarios so that information can be shared among the team
  • Respect customer SLAs
  •  Provide technical support for ILA sites, including site communication, HVAC, commercial power, backup generators, and battery systems 
  • Collaborate with teams to identify and implement service improvements, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Participate in problem management activities to identify and resolve root causes of incidents
  • Participate in continual service improvement activities to identify and implement improvements to IT services 

About You

Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications

  • DWDM transmission knowledge/experience is a fundamental requirement for this role.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Familiar with ticketing systems and tickets workflow.
  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a NOC environment supporting enterprise or ISP networks.
  • Good knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge and experience with optical networks.
  • Any industry certification is desirable (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, etc).
  •  Strong understanding of critical infrastructure, fibre, and OSP
  •  Experience with ILA sites and associated systems (site communication, HVAC, commercial power, backup generators, and battery systems)
  • Optical Transport experience, Ciena 6500 preferred.
  • Good understanding of an AIS system
  • Experience with Cisco and Fortinet equipment
  • Experience with IT service management tools and platforms
  • Knowledge of network protocols and architectures
  • ITIL Foundation certification (or equivalent) and proficiency in ITIL incident management processes.
  • Familiarity with other ITIL practices, including problem management, change management, service request management, event management, and continual service improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
