About The Role

 

About the Role:

This a 3-Month FTC Field based QA and progress assurance role responsible for the independent observation, inspection, and reporting on civil works associated with telecommunications infrastructure projects for a large Hyperscaler. The role focuses on monitoring the quality of completed and ongoing works, tracking construction progress, recording work locations, and providing accurate reporting to support project visibility and compliance with design specifications, safety and quality standards, and client requirements.

Specific Tasks and Duties:

  • Conduct site inspections of site set up, trenching, ducting, chambers, and reinstatement works to ensure compliance with design specifications and local regulations.
  • Observe and record construction progress, documenting completed works, works in progress, and planned activities.
  • Monitor construction progress against the planned programme and report any delays, constraints, or deviations observed on site.
  • Monitor and report the geographic locations where works are being undertaken, ensuring accurate records are maintained against project plans and GIS systems.
  • Capture photographic evidence and maintain detailed inspection records to provide a clear audit trail of site activities.
  • Verify that civil works are completed safely, to the required quality standards, and in accordance with approved construction methods.
  • Identify quality defects, non-conformances, or safety concerns and report findings to the relevant project stakeholders.
  • Perform Health & Safety observations and report any unsafe practices or deviations from statutory or client requirements immediately.
  • Liaise with contractors, project teams, and local authorities to communicate inspection findings and support timely resolution of issues.
  • Monitor reinstatement quality and ensure completed works meet local authority and client standards.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports detailing site visits, inspection outcomes, work progress, and locations of completed and ongoing activities.
  • Support project reporting by providing factual observations on construction status, quality, and site activity.

About You

Skills & Expertise:

Essential:

  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering practices for underground networks.
  • Expertise in road opening, reinstatement, and compliance
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and tablet for network mapping.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in civils inspection or related field.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Strong project planning and coordination skills.
  • Right to work in designated location
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Japanese

Desirable:

  • IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Telecoms fibre network build experience
  • Hyperscale/data centre connectivity project experience
