Field Technician, Minneapolis USA

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Field Technician to join our team, working within client exchange buildings to deliver and maintain connectivity between Main Distribution Frames (MDF) and switching infrastructure. This hands-on role involves installation, testing, recovery, and documentation of telecommunications circuits and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Install 2-wire jumpers to complete circuits between MDF and 20c switching infrastructure according to scheduled plans.
• Terminate 2-wire jumpers using twist and tip soldering or IDC tools.
• Test 2-wire provisions prior to service changeover.
• Recover and remove old wiring as specified in job documentation.
• Provide and test 2Mb co-axial circuits between DDFs.
• Collaborate with team members to support service changeovers and switch decommissioning.
• Recover redundant infrastructure from the operational footprint.
• Verify service functionality by testing circuits and resolving or escalating issues.
• Accurately document network configurations, label equipment and cables, and maintain configuration diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and legal regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by taking ownership of tasks and identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.

• • Minimum 2 years of experience working on Main and Intermediate Distribution Frames.
  • HN1 Basic Frames Accreditation and HN4 Frames Accreditation required.
  • Proficient in soldering and IDC tool usage.
  • Skilled in assembling and testing 3002 co-axial links.
  • Strong technical understanding of PSTN systems.
  • Experience with high-volume PSTN frames and provisioning of 2-wire services, ISDN2, ISDN30, and 2Mb circuits.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
