About The Role

The Lead Engineer is accountable for the overall technical integrity, availability, and operational excellence of the Cable Landing Station (CLS). This role provides senior technical leadership across network and fibre infrastructure, equipment installations, and critical support systems, including cooling and environmental controls.

The Lead Engineer ensures that all CLS activities — fibre works, equipment upgrades, maintenance, and infrastructure projects — are executed safely, consistently, and in accordance with operational, regulatory, and service availability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Cable Landing Station Technical Leadership

  • Act as the technical authority for all engineering and maintenance activities within the CLS.
  • Ensure continuous, high-availability operation of network, transmission, server racks, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Define, implement, and enforce CLS engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support audits, customer visits, and regulatory inspections.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in mission-critical facilities such as Cable Landing Stations, data centres, or telecom hubs.
  • Deep hands-on experience with fibre optic systems, transmission equipment, and rack-based infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership experience in live, high-availability environments.
  • Strong understanding of cooling systems and environmental controls for critical infrastructure.
  • Direct experience in Cable Landing Station operations or submarine cable systems.
  • Fibre optic and/or data centre certifications (FOA, CFOT, CDCP, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with major network equipment vendors (e.g. Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, Huawei, Cisco, Juniper).
