About The Role

As an L2 OSP NOC Engineer, you will provide second-line operational support for the MMI network, independently investigating and managing network events across dark fiber, ILA, backbone infrastructure and associated network environments.

Working closely with internal engineering teams, vendors and field technicians, you will take ownership of incidents from detection through to restoration, performing advanced troubleshooting, coordinating resources and ensuring timely escalation where required. This role plays a critical part in maintaining network performance and customer confidence within a 24x7 operational environment.

What You'll Do

Monitor Network Performance: Monitor network events across backbone, dark fiber and lit service environments, responding to alarms and service-impacting events.

Manage Operational Incidents: Take ownership of incidents from detection through restoration or escalation, ensuring timely resolution and clear documentation.

Coordinate Restoration Activities: Engage vendors, field technicians and internal teams to drive fault resolution and minimise service disruption.

Communicate Service Impact: Provide incident updates, outage notifications and maintenance communications to relevant stakeholders.

Support Operational Excellence: Maintain accurate ticket records, complete effective shift handovers and contribute to process improvements and post-incident reviews.

About You

What We Are Looking For

Network Operations Experience: 2+ years of experience within a NOC, telecommunications, fiber optic, network operations or related technical environment.

Fiber Infrastructure Knowledge: Working knowledge of dark fiber, DWDM, ILA/amplifier sites, splice points, MMVs and wider fiber infrastructure environments.

OTDR Expertise: Hands-on experience with OTDR testing and trace interpretation to support fault isolation and troubleshooting.

Incident Management Experience: Experience using ticketing and incident management systems within an SLA-driven operational environment.

Analytical Approach: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions during service-impacting events.

Communication & Organisation: Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively.

Operational Flexibility: Ability to work a rotating 24x7 schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Desirable

Familiarity with FMS, Viavi, Ciena, Infinera, NSU or similar monitoring technologies, knowledge of Dark Fiber IRU agreements and customer outage processes, experience coordinating vendors and field resources, supporting junior engineers, and contributing to RFOs, root cause analysis and operational documentation.
